Parent Connect Group
The Parents Connect Group is an integral part of our school community. It provides the opportunity for families to share their opinions on issues and assist in improving the educational opportunities for our children.
The Parents Connect Group aims to:

provide a medium of support, information and involvement of parents/carers in their children’s education and the school community.

developing collaboration between parents/carers and school staff.

fostering a distinctive Christian environment in the school.

Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 3.30pm at the school.
Parent Partnership
VISION
Families and schools work together as partners in the education of children. Research has demonstrated that engaging families in their children’s education improves student achievement, attendance and behavior.
​Ways in which our families can be actively involved in their child's education

School board and Parents and Friends' Association: Meetings held each month.

Heart Parents Friendship Group: Parent representative for each class. Welcome to new families and social events throughout the year.

Committees: Parents are invited to be part of committees such as the Year 6 camp fund raising, Year 6 memories book, School Review and Improvement and Tuckshop.

Volunteers and classroom helpers: Parents are invited to help in the classrooms and assist in the tuckshop, library and on excursions.

Engaging in children’s learning: Parent information sessions and workshops on curriculum. Information about supporting children's learning provided in school newsletters, on our website and Facebook page.

Parents are encouraged to access the Google Class Pages. Teachers have parent email distribution lists to encourage effective communication.

PARENT / TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Formal parent / teacher meetings are scheduled twice each year. Parents/carers or class teachers may wish to meet at other times to discuss a child's progress. To ensure the most effective interview, we ask that parents/carers make an appointment with their child's teacher. If parents/carers have any concerns about their child, please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher.
PARENT INFORMATION EVENINGS
Parent information evenings are held early in the year. Teachers will give a brief overview of the curriculum program and their expectations for the year ahead. Dates and times for these will be published in our school newsletter.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Parent participation is encouraged in many aspects of school life at Sacred Heart Yeppoon. Parents are invited to:

Assist in the classrooms.

Attend P&F meetings.

Serve on the School Board.

Work on a sub-committee/taskforce.

Support activities organised by the school community.

Work in the Tuckshop.
